This past Saturday, July 11th, we had a unique event at our Bridgewater location while celebrating our 60th anniversary! Big League Brian was in attendance entertaining customers and passer byers! Sullivan Tire shared the spotlight with dancers, parents and staff members from Michelle’s Studio of Dance! The dancers were part of our celebratory event hosting a benefit car wash. The girls are raising money to dance in Downtown Disney in March 2016, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! The group was able to earn $700 Saturday on a picture perfect midsummer day. If you would like to help support the girls in their quest to perform in Disneyworld, you can make a check payable to Jill Hopkins (event organizer), 483 Walnut Street, Bridgewater, MA 02324.

Today we wanted to share a fun summer recipe we’re planning trying out this weekend: southwestern black bean salad. This bright salad makes a great side dish or an appetizer if you serve it with some chips. It can also be served with grilled meat and tortillas.
- 15.5 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained
- 9 oz. cooked corn, fresh or frozen (thawed if frozen)
- 1 medium tomato, chopped
- 1/3 cup red onion, chopped
- 1 scallion, chopped
- 1 1/2 – 2 limes, juice of
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 2 tbsp. fresh minced cilantro (or more to taste)
- salt and fresh pepper
- 1 medium hass avocado, diced
- 1 diced jalapeno (optional)
In a large bowl, combine beans, corn, tomato, onion, scallion, cilantro, salt and pepper. Squeeze fresh lime juice to taste and stir in olive oil. Marinate in the refrigerator 30 minutes. Add avocado just before serving. Makes about 6 1/2 cups (13 servings of 1/2 a cup).

Since yesterday’s heat wave felt like a throwback to summer, it got us thinking of all the fun summer events we’ve had over the past few years. While reminiscing through the archives, we found this picture of Wally the Green Monster and a furry friend, relaxing at our Bridgewater store.
The picture was taken during Bridgewater’s Grand Opening event back in June of 2012. Although the store was open for business on December 29th in 2011, we decided to wait until the snow had melted before celebrating with a big, outdoor event.
How are you keeping cool this week? Are you happy for a few more days of summer, or are you ready for fall?
As you may have guessed, we’re big fans of baseball here at Sullivan Tire. From our yearly Red Sox magnets, to spending St. Patrick’s day at Fenway South in Ft. Lauderdale, to our great relationship with Dustin Pedroia, we enjoy every aspect of America’s favorite pastime.
This summer, we took love of baseball to a whole new level by hosting A Day at the Park for our employees and their families. All employees who have been with the company for 5 or more years were invited to spend a day with the Portland Sea Dogs, New Hampshire Fisher Cats or the Pawtucket Red Sox.
Employees and their family members were treated to a delicious BBQ lunch before each game.
At each game, a Sullivan Tire employee had the honor of throwing out the first pitch. At the Portland Sea Dogs game it was John Wills, the Assistant Manager of the Portland, ME Commercial location at the Fisher Cats it was Ryan Ward, a newly minted 5 year tech of the Derry, NH retail location, and at the Paw Sox it was Chris Bailey, a technician from the Bedford, MA retail location.
Each day at the park held a fun surprise; employees David Bubar of Bangor, ME Wholesale and Andy Benenato, the manager of Plaistow, NH retail won autographed Dustin Pedroia baseballs, and the Fisher Cats provided our New Hampshire guests to VIP tour of the stadium.
The weather was perfect for each Day at the Park, and a great time was had by all!
Thank you to the Portland Sea Dogs, New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Pawtucket Red Sox for being such great hosts during our summer baseball game outings!
