“Sullivan Tire has been fantastic. I’ve been taking my cars there for several years, and have always had great service. This recent repair was to replace the brakes. I scheduled the appointment with Evan, who was very courteous and professional. I saw Marvin when I brought my car in, who was also very courteous and professional. He took the time to discuss the repair. Kurt brought me to work, and also picked me up to get my car back. He was very helpful and polite. Overall, you guys are great! I have never had a bad experience.”

“I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank George, Eric, and the excellent mechanics again for the work they did on my vehicle last week at your Hanover facility. (I had extensive work done on my Saab’s suspension system and the car runs like new). I am always pleased with the quality of work done in Hanover.”

Spring cleaning isn’t just for the home – we also need to remember to pay attention to our vehicles! With April being National Car Care Month, it’s the perfect time to give your car some extra attention and get caught up on routine vehicle maintenance.
Car Care Council states that 84 percent of vehicles need service or parts, up 5 percent from the previous year. With the Spring and Summer travel seasons close by, we need to make sure our cars are safe and ready to hit the road.
A typical 30,000 mi. maintenance may include:
- Air filter
- Fuel filter
- Cabin air filter
- A visual inspection of all vehicle components
- Changing vehicle fluids such as transmission, coolant, power steering and oil.
It’s always a good idea to check your tires too! RMA suggests you play your PART:
- Pressure – Check the pressure of your tires once a month, and before every long trip, to ensure that when you do need to stop, your tires can do everything they’re supposed to do to help you.
- Alignment – Make sure you have the alignment and balance of your tires checked regularly so that if you do skid, your vehicle is properly equipped to help you stop safely. Have your alignment checked at least 1-2 times per year, or at the first sign of the vehicle not tracking straight when driving on a straight stretch of road
- Rotate – Rotating your tires can sometimes help correct irregular tire wear. We recommend rotating your tires every 5,000-7,000 miles, or roughly every other oil change.
- Tread – Hydroplaning can occur even at low speeds if the tread is not deep enough to channel the water from under your tires. If any part of the tread is at or below 2/32″ depth, the Department of Transportation (DOT) considers the tire as having reached the end of it’s useful life and should be replaced.

““I received the BEST brake repair service from the staff at the Falmouth location yesterday. I’ve been a Sullivan Tire customer since the 1970’s (originally at the Rockland location.) Since relocating to the Cape, I knew I could trust Sullivan Tire for excellent service. Paul Bolle and the courtesy van driver (I’m sorry but I didn’t ask his name, he’s a retired Belmont cop) exceeded my expectations for customer service and should be commended for carrying on the Sullivan Tire’s family tradition of friendly and efficient service with a personal touch!”

Brakes are one of the most important safety features of any vehicle. They’re also pretty pricey to replace. So today, we’re going to take a look at what you can do to extend the life of your brakes so your car not only stays safe, but your wallet stays full.
Your braking system is made up of brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, calipers and brake lines. The brake pads, linings and rotors push against one another to create the friction that stops your car. There are two types of brakes; disk brakes, and drum brakes. Disk brakes use a flat, disk-shaped metal rotor (hence the name), whereas drum brakes use a wide cylinder that’s open in the back.
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should get your brakes checked out
- A vibration in the steering wheel when you step on the brake (especially at highway speeds)
- Your brake light or anti-lock brake light comes on
- Your vehicle pulls in one direction when applying the brakes
- A brake pedal that feels soft or fades when you hold it down
Even if you’re not experiencing any of the aforementioned symptoms, you should get your brakes checked every 6,000 miles.
The price range is broad and it varies for every car. Sometimes you just need new pads, other times you may need much more. The only way to be sure of exactly what you need, and how much it will cost, is to contact any one of our retail locations for an appointment. Our ASE Certified Technicians are experts in brake repair, and will take the time to explain what exactly needs to be done, and how much it’ll cost.
