  • Sullivan Tire has been producing Red Sox Magnet Schedules since the 1980s. The first magnetic schedule was produced in 1999, and has been a yearly tradition for 15 years! To celebrate this milestone, and to get Red Sox Nation excited about the newest magnet, Fuel for Thought will be posting a Red Sox Magnet Schedule Retrospective, every day until St. Patrick’s Day, when the 2014 Magnet will be available in our stores.

    2012 Red Sox Magnet

During 2012, Fenway Park celebrated it’s 100th birthday. A year of events were held to commemorate the historic event, from Frozen Fenway hockey games in January, a free Open House in April, and a special birthday celebration on April 20th, 2012. The Sox played the Yankees, the same team they played back on April 20, 1912, and both teams wore throwback jerseys.

It was also the year we held our “Every Hit Helps” fundraiser to benefit the Jimmy Fund. From the Press Release:

Beginning Monday, July 16th and running until Friday, August 10th, Sullivan Tire will donate $500 to the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Telethon for every hit Dustin Pedroia gets!  Sullivan Tire will increase that amount to $1,000 for each home run hit by Pedroia.

Sullivan Tire was able to donate $20,000 to the Jimmy Fund through the Every Hit Helps event.

We also included a consumer sweepstakes where Sox fans could guess how many total hits they thought Dustin would get during the aforementioned timeline. The grand prize winner won six tickets to a Luxury Suite at Fenway, and the runner up prizes were a $500 Sullivan Tire gift card, a $200 American Express gift card, and a Dustin Pedroia signed baseball bat.
