  • Do you have a subscription to the Boston Globe? Have you seen your silver envelope?

Those silver envelopes are for the GRANT program, which enables Boston Globe readers to show their support for non-profits by selecting one to receive free advertising space within the newspaper.

The Boston Globe is mailing vouchers to each of our subscribers… It is up to each of our readers to decide which non-profit deserves his or her voucher the most. The organizations with the highest donations will be able to spread the word about their valuable work through free advertising in The Boston Globe.

If you’ve received your silver envelope, but need help deciding on a non-profit to support, the Friendship Home in Norwell, MA is a great facility to consider.

The Friendship Home is “a facility for individuals with developmental disabilities that specifically addressed the need for quality respite care and opportunities for these special individuals to build the necessary work and personal relationships as well as the skills to allow them to lead productive and rewarding lives.”

We first told you about the Friendship Home back in December, when we wrote about the #GivingTuesday campaign. And just like #GivingTuesday, the Globe’s GRANT program provides great visibility to charities and organizations in need.

For more information on the Friendship Home, this article from Hingham’s Wicked Local provides great background into the organization, as well as information on the Annual Gala on March 6th, 2014.

Are you a GRANT participant? What non-profits are you supporting through the program?
