  • Last week, we shared a customer’s wonderful experience in Weymouth, MA, and wanted to provide some more details on our newest retail location.

The Washington Street, Weymouth location opened it’s doors on October 5, 2013. It is our second store in Weymouth and the 67th location in New England.

The location was formerly occupied by Midas, and was completely renovated by Sullivan Tire during the summer of 2013. The 6,750 square foot facility houses eight service bays. It is staffed by up to twelve full-time employees, including three Master Technicians.

Sean Galiano, a Master Technician and 23-year veteran of Sullivan Tire, has Managed the store since it’s opening. Galiano resides in Weymouth with his wife and two children, where they are active members of the community. Sean serves on the Weymouth High School Advisory Committee and his son is a Weymouth Wildcat Football player.

“I’m thrilled to take on this new role and to work in the community where my family lives,” said Galiano. “Sullivan Tire is a family owned business whose motto is to treat every customer as if they were a member of your family. For me, it will be especially rewarding to serve the family of Weymouth and to see so many familiar faces on a day to day basis.”

  • Last week we were in sunny Arizona filming our newest series of TV Commercials with Dustin Pedroia. Hard to believe that this is our 7th year with Dustin! We signed him when he was just a rookie, and we all know that he’s had a lot of success since then. Perhaps we are his lucky charm!

This year, we brought in a very special guest to appear in the commercials with Dustin…Boston Bruins Center Gregory Campbell! We had both players reverse rolls for a day; Dustin provided Gregory with some baseball tips and Gregory showed Dustin how to hit a puck (Yes, Dustin was on the ice!).  We won’t reveal how they did, but you can see for yourself when the commercials begin airing in March.

It sure was a lot of fun making the spots. – We only wish we could have stayed to enjoy the Arizona sun a bit longer!

We’ll be posting more pictures from the shoot on our Facebook page, so be sure to visit us there. We’ve also got a bunch of our commercials, many featuring Dustin Pedroia, on our Youtube channel.

Best of luck to the Bruins on the rest of the season and Good Luck Dustin and the Red Sox in the upcoming season!

I wanted to inform you of my recent experience in Weymouth, MA (Washington Street) by expressing my gratitude for the excellent service I received last weekend.  I may have only just asked for an oil change, but when I told them I will see them again soon, I definitely meant it. Comfortable waiting area, quick service, friendly team members…a true must for repeat customers and I will be sharing the news as well with my friends, neighbors and coworkers… keep up the great work!!! :)

  • Do you have a subscription to the Boston Globe? Have you seen your silver envelope?

    via the Boston Globe

Those silver envelopes are for the GRANT program, which enables Boston Globe readers to show their support for non-profits by selecting one to receive free advertising space within the newspaper.

The Boston Globe is mailing vouchers to each of our subscribers… It is up to each of our readers to decide which non-profit deserves his or her voucher the most. The organizations with the highest donations will be able to spread the word about their valuable work through free advertising in The Boston Globe.

If you’ve received your silver envelope, but need help deciding on a non-profit to support, the Friendship Home in Norwell, MA is a great facility to consider.

The Friendship Home is “a facility for individuals with developmental disabilities that specifically addressed the need for quality respite care and opportunities for these special individuals to build the necessary work and personal relationships as well as the skills to allow them to lead productive and rewarding lives.”

We first told you about the Friendship Home back in December, when we wrote about the #GivingTuesday campaign. And just like #GivingTuesday, the Globe’s GRANT program provides great visibility to charities and organizations in need.

For more information on the Friendship Home, this article from Hingham’s Wicked Local provides great background into the organization, as well as information on the Annual Gala on March 6th, 2014.

Are you a GRANT participant? What non-profits are you supporting through the program?

  • This year’s Goodyear Dealer Conference took place in Nashville, TN, from January 29th – February 1st. The conference was held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

Goodyear did an outstanding job motivating its dealers and highlighting upcoming trends to better equip us for the changing demands of our customers. There were captivating general sessions and information sessions scheduled throughout the day. Their trade show was open both Thursday & Friday for attendees to walk through at their leisure.

    2014 GY Conference 01

At the conference, Goodyear unveiled its newest tire – the Goodyear Assurance All Season tire. The Assurance All Season tire will be available in mid-July and it will be in the lower mid-tier category. Its wide tread grooves, multiple biting edges and large shoulder blocks provide confident all-season traction. The Assurance All Season tire has a 65,000 mileage warranty, so you can count on receiving long treadwear at a great value.

    2014 GY Conference 02

Goodyear’s Chairman and CEO, Rich Kramer, discussed the “changing customer”. Right now, baby boomers are the largest demographic, but soon we will see a shift towards the millennial generation. Kramer stressed the importance of understanding the behaviors and shopping tendencies of millennials. Millennials are tech-savvy and are comfortable making purchases online. With a smartphone or tablet in hand, millennials are researching products before, after and even during their purchase – sometimes even while they are standing in your showroom. Millennials hold high expectations for customer service and expect a brand experience every time they go somewhere.

Mark Gillard and Jessica Coonan of the Marketing Department spoke on a panel during the information session: Retailing Dealers Share Best Practices. They discussed Sullivan Tire’s overall strategy on Social Media and offered advice to dealers looking to get more involved with Social Media.

I am a loyal Sullivan customer originally living in Derry, NH and now live in Maine. My daughter was in New Hampshire and had an issue with her vehicle and I instructed her to go to the Sullivan Tire in Manchester, NH. She had the pleasure to deal with Joe Selitto and could not have been more professional and nice and took care of problem. Joe is a credit to Sullivan Tire and it is because of service like this that I am a loyal Sullivan Tire customer. Thank you Joe and Sullivan Tire for you fantastic service.

  • You know that sound? That dreaded sound when you’re sitting in the driver’s seat, trying to start your car and hearing that churning that never seems to turn over?

With most car parts, like your tires or brakes, you can typically see or feel the wear and tear, letting you know it’s a good time to get it checked out or replaced. With a battery, you typically don’t know there’s trouble until you’re in it. That’s why it’s a good idea to get it checked before it’s too late.

How often should I get my battery checked?

We recommend testing your battery once a year, preferably in the fall before the cold weather hits. The first sign of a failing battery is poor cold weather performance.  If the battery struggles to start your vehicle on a cold morning, you should have your battery tested immediately. In many cases your battery may fail with little or no warning. The cold winter months are particularly tough on batteries.

What is included in a battery check?

At Sullivan Tire, we don’t just take a peek at your car’s battery; we check the entire charging system. Battery, alternator, drive belt, starter, wires, cables, and your charging systems overall condition.

How much does a battery check cost?

Nothing! It’s free until March 31st at Sullivan Tire!

How much does a new battery cost?

Usually somewhere in the $99 – $130 range?

How long does a battery last?

Anywhere from three to six years depending on use, construction and routine maintenance performed.
